The glass paintings here are made with all glass components. Starting with a slate of clear or colored glass the images are added with glass frit that varies in size from 1/4 inch to fine powder. Powders are applied either dry, or are mixed with a liquid medium to give a paste or fluid. The painting is completed in multiple steps, with the glass fired between each step. Each painting may be fired as many as 10 times to get the color variation and depth that is needed. Each addition and firing takes at least one day.
Please enjoy the images and contact Kimberly if you have any questions.
